Canada and the US share the largest border in the world. Consequently, it's important that such a border be properly protected and that the passing of dangerous items (i.e. weapons, firearms, etc.) from one country to another be restricted. I beleive that Canada and the US need to work co-operatively to keep citizens of both countries safe from dangerous objects crossing the border. Perhaps the border officials can continue with or increase their level of intolerance of unnecessary items passing from the US into Canada, and from Canada into the US. It would just help to keep us safe.
It would also be great if President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Stephen Harper came to an agreement to better protect our Great Lakes. The International Joint Comission (IJC) already exists as a Canadian-American initiative to protect our Lakes, but perhaps the two leaders could come up with even more ways and organizations to ensure that our vast fresh water supply is well secure and that its stability is still observed well into the future.
I think Alex's idea is good. Violence is a problem in both Canada and America and if anything can be done to seize it or minimize it, that would always be a good idea. It could change many violent areas into better neighbourhoods for people to live in. Lives could be saved and gang activity could be reduced drastically if weapons were taken more seriously when they are brought from country to country.
i agree with kristen, and her opion of what they key issues of canada are. They are all tremondous ideas and she make good points that should be taken into consideration.
In more seriousness, I belive that the Cananda and American relations are stretched mainly because of the poor connections with Bush and Harper, with the change over with Obama, I belive the connections can be fixed, thus, cross-help to existing problems with Canada, and the states. Problems including the ever-moving economy and trades with Asia and other parts of the world. Lastly, I belive Obama should realise the current solutions to problems in Canada are not working according to plan. I belive America can add cross-border help to solve a number of the issues.

trade more between canada and the united states. aslo to watch what goes over the border like alex said, it will keep everyone a lot more safe and happy.
The issues are:
1.) Automotive industry, 30,000 workers in Canada and Canada can naturally lose 582,000 jobs, in and out of auto business.
2.) Canadains are fighting and dying in Afghanistan. Canada has 2,500 soldiers in Afghanistan and 108 Canadians have died.
3.)Enviromental issues. Effects greenhouse gases emissions, this impacts on both countries, each country right in the Northwest Passage and seas of the Arctic Circel.
